New country, new way of learning!

Here鈥檚 what to expect at University College Dublin:
鈥 More emphasis on independent learning. The university recommends completing ten hours of independent study for each academic credit you seek.
鈥 Less personal access to professors. Instead, it鈥檚 common to connect with more junior faculty members. Other resources include course designers (who line up lectures) and module coordinators.
鈥 Grades are often based only on a single final paper or on a midterm exam and final paper.
鈥 Academics reflect a similar level of difficulty as in the U.S., but follow a complex grading scale that results in a transcript showing letter grades and points grades in the UCD grading scale.
鈥 Full access to the university鈥檚 robust academic support system and resources, including assignment to an advisor. IFSA local staff are also available for individual help.
鈥 Students have access to IFSA鈥檚 grading and credit conversion formulas through their IFSA Student Portal.
鈥 Please take note that host universities grading system can change without advanced notice, and IFSA will make every effort to update students as soon as possible.
